For my sanity, you must start sleeping!

My kids have been so sick this winter. We have battled cold after cold, the stomach flu, croup, and bleeding diaper rash x 2. And this all started the week before Thanksgiving. I am so over my kids being sick, and usually getting me sick in the process. (Or worse my fourth and biggest baby, Daddy) Now for most kids, being sick means extra long naps and sleeping in. For Mark, it means never sleeping and driving me crazy! So after two days without napping and me holding Mark for hours to keep the crying at bay, I became desperate.

The first thing I tried was putting Mark in his bouncer. Now I'm well aware that he is almost 14 months old, but like I said I was desperate.
I wonder why this didn't work. Hmm?

When that didn't work, I did what I would have sworn on a stack of Bibles that I would never do. But desperate times call for desperate measures, right?

I gave my twins their water cups and put some Cheerios on the floor to amuse themselves with. Now try not to judge me, and if you don't have kids, you're not allowed to judge me at all. It may sound bad, but it's better than shoving chop sticks in my ears so I can't hear the crying anymore. By the way, the Cheerios kept them happy for 30 minutes. Mostly because Mark crawled through them, scattering them everywhere. Molly was giggling as she was crawling for her food. I may have unwisely created a new game. Have no fear, Mark went straight back to crying once Molly ate all the Cheerios.

By bedtime last night I was the happiest mommy in the world. And you would think that Mark would be so exhausted from all that adorable screaming and whining that he would fall fast asleep. Yeah you would think, but he didn't. Not only did he play/cry until 1 am, but he kept Isabella up until midnight as well. Molly like the little trooper she is slept right through it. And the cherry on my sundae, the stupid sunlight woke Isabella up at 7am. Can you say early naps for everyone?

  1. Ugh, no one understand this like another twin mom. Trying to get them on a good sleep schedule is hard enough, but when they're sick? No one gets much sleep.
