Vacation Hangover

We went on vacation last week. We took a few days off to visit Brett's parents who live in Southern California. This vacation was planned around the Angels' home opener on Friday night. Now if going to your in-laws doesn't sound like a vacation I can understand, but it is a great one for us for many reasons.
  1. Free!!
  2. Location, location, location! They live minutes away from Angel stadium, Disneyland (not that we ever go), the beach, Irvine Park, and Chick Fil-A. What more could you ask for?
  3. Babysitting opportunities. We can put the kids down for a nap or at night and there's someone to watch the kids. Plus we go out at least one night and have a date.
  4. Did I mention it was free!!
Now for the hangover part. I got really used to sleeping in the last five days. And when the girls woke up at 7:45 this morning, I was not impressed that I was the only one around to get them up. And then there is the laundry, lack of food in the house, being tired from an almost 5 hour car ride where no kids slept, etc. I feel like I stayed up all night even though I was in bed at 10. But it was totally worth it and we had a great time!

I'm not sure when we will be going down again, but I hope the weather is better. We froze our bottoms off at the baseball game on Friday night. But I'll write more on our date night later. There is too much work to get done today!

  1. Sounds like a vacation to me! Glad you were able to sleep in a few days! My in-laws live in the same town as me, so going to their house is more like a break....meaning I can let the kids go wild while I relax! :) can't wait to hear about date night! Good luck getting caught up! That always sucks about vacation! :) take care!

  2. You need a vacation from your vacation!!

  3. Sounds like a great vacation! You deserved it! However, you know I cannot really sympathize with the 7:45am thing - 7:45am would be a dream time to wake up in this house. ;)
