One Scary Morning

On Sunday mornings, Brett gets the kids up and dressed for church while I get ready. It's a nice morning off from my mommy duties. After I'm ready I normally help Brett brush Isabella's teeth and fix her hair. This system gets us to church on time most Sundays.

This morning I went to help Isabella brush her teeth when I noticed that her arms were bright red and covered in blisters. "What the...." And then the panic begins to set in. My poor little munchkin looked like her arms were dipped into scalding hot water. Plus her lips were swollen. So needless to say, we did not go to church and a trip to Quick Care was in order.

Thankfully we live right around the corner from a Quick Care and since it was 9:30 in the morning the entire visit only took a hour and a half. The verdict? Some kind of allergic reaction to a bug bite on her leg that is probably from a spider. Wow! What a vague diagnosis for my lovely $35 co-pay. So let me get this straight, I need to keep my daughter away from an unknown bug so she doesn't have an allergic reaction again. That should be easy enough since I live in Spider City.

A prescription for Benadryl later and the rash is almost gone a mere 4 hours later. Seeing a rash on your kid is pretty scary. And keeping that fear under the surface so your kids don't get scared too is almost impossible. But now everyone is napping and all is good in our house. I think it's time for a nap for me too, It's been a long day.
And she thought last Sunday was rough because Mommy was taking her picture.

  1. oh my gosh, how scary! I'm glad she's doing better though!

  2. Yes, that would have been wagon scary! So glad she is fine!

  3. Awww - I hope she is feeling better soon. And I agree — I think it's a waste when they won't give you a shot to help things get a move on or even tell you what it really is. I always get - it's just sinus. Really? Because it's different symptoms every time I go!! Another $40 down the drain.

  4. Very scary and hard to hide, I agree!

Thanks so much for linking up to our Super Stalker Sunday hop! We hope you'll come back next week!

    Have a great week!

  9. Oh my! That is scary. Glad she is okay. I saw you on Super Stalker Sunday and am now following. I hope you follow me back. I'm very new to this so my blog isn't much. It's my latest attempt to spread the news about my new business so I hope it gets better.

  10. That sounds like a very scary morning...and what's with the diagnosis? Can't they do some testing to find out what kind of bite she received? I've installed little bug lights near the doorways in our home...they send out a high pitch sound that is supposed to aggravate bugs and spiders so the don't want to come in. Also, spraying lemon Plegde on the doorways and window sills is a spider you can tell, I live in a spider town too!

I am following, hope you can stop by for a visit!

    Thanks, Becky Jane
Raising kids can be a lot like weeding the rose bed...well worth it, but...OUCH!

  11. Holy Cow, that's scary! I'm glad it was cured with Benadryl, I guess it could be worse.

  12. Poor girl! Hopefully it was nothing serious and she's feeling better now.
