What I Love About Me Blog Hop

Holly at Twins Plus One Three Times the Fun and I are joining forces to talk about ourselves in a positive light. So often women put themselves down instead of bringing up the positive things about ourselves.
Here's how it works -
This is in no way intended to be an act of conceit. What it intended to be is a time and place for each of us to stop criticizing ourselves for a few minutes and actually remind ourselves of the characteristics we are proud to own. We are far too often our own worst critics, leading to poor self-esteem and in turn leading to poor relationships. In order for us to love others to our fullest capacities, we must remember to love ourselves too. So go ahead, look in the mirror, and see yourself through your loved one's eyes. Notice the beauty first. Here's your place to shine! So join in the fun and tell us something that you love about yourself.

What I'm loving about myself this week.
I have lost 50 pounds in 18 months. Now in an effort at full disclosure, I did give birth to twins 18 months ago. But the weight had to be lost all the same and I'm really proud of myself. I lost about 35 pounds in the first two months based on pure stress and not eating as much as I should and never being able to sit down. I don't recommend losing weight this way.

The next 8 pounds came off during a weight loss challenge with Brett. We bet on household chores and unfun (sure it's a word) parenting responsibilities. Our bet was over a month with weekly weigh ins and winners. We also had a grand prize for the person that lost the most weight overall-one week without bath duty. I kicked his butt!!! I won every week and my week off of bath duty was awesome!

The last of my weight came off during the time Brett was working nights. He wasn't around snacking so I wasn't snacking either. I also drank a less wine since I don't like to drink alone. I normally eat pretty healthy so changing my eating habits were not a big issue for me.

So that's my story. I'm feeling pretty darn good about how I look and feel these days. I would like to lose another 5 pounds and I'm going to start my boot camp in a week and I'm willing to bet that six weeks of boot camp will take me down to my goal weight.

So what makes you feel good?

  2. Wow that is just awesome. I need to loose weight and since I am going to Norway this summer to spend time at our summer house there, I think it will be the perfect time to slim down a little.
I am pretty proud however of all the books I have been reading lately. Having an e reader has really changed my reading habits and I am able to read more and I am trying out books I would never have thought to try before.

  3. Fantastic! Isn't it great to focus on those things that PLEASE us (rather than displease us!) about ourselves?

thank you so much for linking up with Makes My Monday, too!
