Friday Confessions 8/26

Photobucket

Warning this is about the stomach flu!

I confess....
I am over the stomach flu. We've had three bouts of the stomach flu this summer. Two in the month of August.

I confess....
The worst sound in the world is a kid throwing up in the middle of the night. Now you have to change sheets and bath said kid.

I confess....
The second worst sound in the world is the first kid's twin throwing up in his bed just a hour later. Clean up times two!

I confess....
Last Friday I did laundry. Thanks to the flu I did 6 loads on Monday and 4 on Tuesday. I need kids that can make it to the toilet on time.

I confess....
My little Molly looked like a drunk baby on Monday night when we woke her up for a little juice.

I confess....
That was the moment that we realized that she was really sick and needed to go to the ER.

I confess....
I was really impressed that we got to the ER at 10:30 and she was in a room at 10:35! And she saw a doctor at 11:00 for the first time. Very impressive!

I confess....
I am less than impressed that the magical medicine that she got to make her stop vomiting and made her able to keep fluids down was already in my medicine cabinet. Good ole zofran! Dang it! I could have saved myself a few hundred dollars.

I confess....
I have no idea what that visit is going to cost. I don't know if it's a co-pay or against my $5,000 deductible. I don't want to know, I'll just wait for the heart attack bill.

I confess....
We got home from the hospital at 2:45 and found Isabella in a wet bed. My first sign that she would get sick soon. Fantastic! She threw up once the next morning and I promptly gave her some zofran. I wasn't about to deal with any more vomit.

I confess....
I bet some of you are judging me for sharing Molly's medicine. I bet the rest of you have done it yourselves.

I confess....
On Wednesday morning I woke up at 4am sick. The zofran didn't really help me much.

I confess....
By Thursday morning I was up all night for four days straight with either with sick kids or sick my self. I felt like I was hit by a truck and then it reversed back over me just to make sure I was dead. I had to call in reinforcements. Thanks to Paul, my kids were taken care of.

I confess....
I went three days without caffeine thanks to the stomach flu. I guess it doesn't take an act of God after all to keep me off caffeine.

I confess....
I lost 7 pounds in 2 days the hard way. The really hard way. And the reward is that I'll gain them right back. Why can't we keep off at least one of the pounds we loose with the flu? It would be a nice reward don't you think?

I confess....
If Brett gets the flu, I'm going to cry!

  2. I really hope that is the end of the flu for your family for a long while! I would be the same as you & given my 2nd child the medicine to stop the vomiting! I am sure some people would say we are awful parents for doing that...but when you are so desperate for the kids to feel better & exhausted.....you do what you have to do! My doc has given me phenergan for nausea/vomiting when I get migraines & that works like a charm but causes you to sleep for hours! Take care & get your family back in good health & celebrate the end of the crappy flu!

  3. Oh my gosh, I think I would've had a nervous breakdown right along with the illness. You are amazing just for getting through it!

  4. It seems there is finally light at the end of the horribly long, icky tunnel! I'm so glad for you! I'm also glad the Zofran worked for some of you. My 17-year-old was given Zofran in the ER 2 weeks ago and, let's just say, it was not a good fit for her. Ugh! Drug allergies stink! I'm allergic to 3 drugs; DD is allergic to 2; DS is allergic to 1; and DH is allergic to 1. And that's just the ones we know about! So far, the youngest is the only one who has NOT broken out in hives, or had some other weird reaction that's even more annoying than hives. :oO

  5. If Brett gets the flu...you and the kids should get a hotel room! LOL!

So happy that everyone is on the mend. :)

    Happy Sunday!
