Oh What A Night!!!

Have you noticed that kids only get sick in the middle of the night? Have you noticed that kids like to get sick when you have a big event coming up or company in town? Have you noticed that my kids get the stomach flu all the time????

Last night, I heard what I thought sounded like one of my kids throwing up. But no one cried so I went back to sleep. About a hour later I heard a kiddo throwing up and then crying so I got up and found Mark covered in puke. Awesome!! It was also all over the floor.

We got him cleaned up and then I decided to check on the girls before we took Mark out of the tub. Sure enough, it was a kid that I heard throwing up earlier in the night. Molly was sound asleep laying in vomit. (Deep breath Allison, deep breath!) So I got Molly in the tub and got her cleaned up while Brett cleaned up her crib. At this point Mark had been up for 1 hour without any more vomiting. So we decided it was safe to put him back in his clean bed.

Well you know what happened next. I mean do I really need to type it out. Not 10 minutes after we put him down, he threw up again. (Groan) I put him back in the tub and got him cleaned up while Brett changed his sheets, again!

All was well for the rest of the night. In the morning all the kids slept in (9:45 and Mark was still out cold when the girls woke up) since we woke up Isabella in all out noise. When I pulled the twins out of bed I found more puke. They slept in it and I'm kinda OK with that since I didn't have to get them up. You know your kids are sick when they throw up and cover it with their blanket and go back to bed.

So back into the tub and then I wanted to try a tiny bit of food for brunch. Molly only drank milk which promptly made an appearance in her lap a few minutes later. You know, the clean lap that I just washed. And all over her chair. More sighs, more clean up.

So that seems to be the end of it. Mark ate a little lunch but Molly looked at it and then got down and went back to sleep. So far Bells is standing strong. And now I'm left with a mountain of laundry and vomit sheets to clean. In case you missed it, Isabella and Mark had the stomach flu three weeks ago and a cold 1 week ago. Ten weeks ago they all had the stomach flu. This now makes our third stomach flu this summer!

Oh well, better this week than next week on the first day of school right?

  4. Awwww! Vomit is the *worst*. I'd like to tell you things get better, but I took my 17-year-old to the ER at 3 AM early Sunday morning. Bleh! LOL! (She's OK. She has pleurisy, which is painful, but all of her tests were normal so she doesn't have pneumonia or anything. Phew!)

  8. Wow, wow, and more wow. Seems like you might benefit from a puke room. Something with a tarp. Did you get sick as well? Not only catching the flu but throwing up b/c of so much throw up? I hope you and your family are feeling better. Hope you are getting all the bugs out for awhile.

  9. Ouch! Sounds like the worst of stomach flu summers! Hopefully they're all rested and up and running soon (but not so soon that you don't have time to recover from lack of sleep).

  12. Oh dear, I've had many of those days myself, especially when they were younger. They're 8 and 9 now and have gotten pretty savvy with making it to the toilet or, at least, to the sink. And they do okay with the bucket by the bed when they go back to bed. It has been awhile for us with the stomach flu and I hope it stays that way. Sorry you've been having such a hard time of it. Hope everyone is better for when school starts. =O)

  15. Can't we just keep our kids in a sterile bubble? Ugh. I feel for you. I have a 7 year old boy and a 3 month old boy, so I've only had to deal with the stomach bug with one kid thus far.

Thanks for being in the flash follow giveaway. It's been fun and I'm glad I found you! :)

  16. O.O That sounds awful! I hope everyone gets better soon!

You must be a strong mommy to be able to get through all of that. I don't know how I could handle it. Then again, I have yet to find myself in that situation, so maybe it's a mommy thing :)

With any luck maybe they won't get sick during the school year? I'll pray for it :)

  18. Terressa B. I remember when I had 4 young ones at home and the same thing would happen. It seems there's never a time they don't pass it right down the line. Hope they are feeling better now. Just remember"this too shall pass" Right now I am battling "pink eye" with my 4 and 6 yr.old granddaughters that I have custody of. I do mean battle with the drops.

  20. We have been to the emergency room several times with matters that could easily been taken care of with a doctor's office visit if they occurred during the day.

I am a GFC and Facebook follower. Visit my daughter and I at our blog, Says Me Says Mom (http://saysmesaysmom.blogspot.com) where we talk about anything and everything.

  21. It was my experience that after a week or so back in school, they would all get sick and round and around it would go until they all got their antibodies built up. Maybe having yours sick before school starts will be a blessing and give them an immunity they wouldn't have had otherwise. At any rate, I do hope it's over for you!

  22. My son would throw up just from hearing or being around someone throwing up (hubby calls it 'pity sick") so that was fun, then three days later he would be really sick!! Just when you think it's over, here comes the grandkids, who always seem to get sick at grandma's!!

  23. I hope everyone gets a good night sleep tonight & you aren't up washing kids all night again! That is terrible that you've been dealing with sick kids so much this summer!!!!

  24. Well I can completely agree with ya on this!!! My kids would ALWAYS get sick at night and when they were young it made for many sleepless nights. Hope they feel better soon :)

  25. I hate when they cant sleep for any reason, but when they are sick and you can't do anything about it makes it so much harder.

I hope it gets better soon

  29. Yes, it is always the middle of the night. And then you waffle about whether or not to call the doctor, and by the time you do and get them in, they feel fine!

Hope you are all feeling well soon!
