5 Layer Dip Recipe

With opening day of football being a family holiday in my house, I thought I would share one of our favorite dip recipes. I know that most people have a 7 layer dip recipe, but I make mine a little different and I skip two layers since Brett hates olives and I don't like onions on my dip.

Ingredients
1 can of bean dip
1 sm container of sour cream
1/2 taco seasoning packet
2 avocados
2 tomatoes
1/4 cup chopped onion
1/2 chopped jalapeno-optional
2 T chopped cilantro
garlic salt to taste
1 wedge of lime
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Directions
1. Spread bean dip on the bottom of a 9'X9' pan.
2. Make guacamole. (Or buy some premade if you're not a snob about guacamole like I am) Mash the avocados and add onion, cilantro, lime juice, 1/2 tomato chopped, garlic salt to taste, jalapeno and mix. I like mine chunky but you can make it smooth. Spread over bean dip. (Note you may need to adjust the onion, lime, and cilantro according to your taste. I use more lime and cilantro than I listed since I like lots of it, but most people don't)
3. Mix sour cream and taco seasoning and the spread over the guacamole.
4. Top with shredded cheese.
5. Top with 2 chopped tomatoes.
6. Serve with chips and enjoy!

You can double the recipe if you are making it for a large crowd and put it in a 9'X13' pan instead. I hope you like it! And enjoy the first day of Football-Go Texans!!

  1. I make the same 5 layer dip (I don't like olives or onions either)...so yummy! Except instead of diced tomatoes, I place tomato salsa (usually fresh) on top of the sour cream mix layer, and then top with shredded cheese. Same concept though. Oh and I'm big on lime and cilantro too...so we add alot! :)
