Our First 3 Day Weekend

One of the lovely perks of owning your own business is that there is no such thing as a three day weekend. The phone rings non-stop and Brett at a minimum still had paperwork to do. So today was the first holiday in over 3 years that he actually had the whole day off!

So we took advantage of a Monday off by heading out to the Springs Preserve. Thanks to Target, there was no admission fee today. We got there when they opened since we thought it would get crazy by noon. (We were right BTW) Plus the kiddos nap at 12:45 so we wanted to get the most out of our free visit since Mark doesn't skip naps very well.

We have never been to the Springs Preserve before today. We had heard that it was really cool and it was. There was so much to do there. If you have older kids, you could easily spend the whole day there. We walked through the gardens, saw desert animals, walked the nature trails, played on the playground, and saw a few exhibits.

In the garden!

I love this picture of Molly!

My sweet boys

Isabella just loves looking through "spotting scopes" and binoculars.

Molly was trying to get through the fence. My little jail breaker!

And Isabella looking at a desert turtle.
She was very excited when it started to walk around.

As we were leaving, Isabella was asking everyone what their favorite part of the adventure was. (Thanks Dora) An what was her favorite part? The kettle popcorn, of course! They were giving away free kettle popcorn and the kids loved it!! And what was my favorite part of the day? I have been working so hard with Mark to be able to take a step up and down. There was a tree forest play area that had a little step up and down. The poor little guy fell a dozen times until.....

The floor was slippery and I was really proud of him for manuvoring on it! I did get a few strange looks for tearing up. I was too happy to care!

We had a great time today! It was so relaxing even though it was crowded. I hate big crowds and for the most part we were able to stay away from them. Isabella ate it in the garden all of 30 minutes into our visit and scraped up her knee. There was a little drama but then we convinced her that she was going to live and all was well. The weather was perfect for being outside. It was overcast and it sprinkled on and off for a hour. Much better than the 105 degree day that we had on Saturday! If you live in Vegas or coming to town, you should check it out!

  1. Yes!! You know the Springs Preserve is one of our very favorite places! I can't believe I didn't know about the event today - face palm! We so would've been there.

And a big congratulations to Mark!! That is so awesome. I would've teared up too. I remember those firsts from Dawson's physical therapy. I actually cried big crocodile tears when he first rolled over at about 7 1/2 months old.

  6. You got some great shots! It's always hard for me to get pics with me in them since I'm usually the one taking them and you succeeded - great memories!
