Rumors of God-Review

Rumors of God written by Darren Whitehead and Jon Tyson is a book that looks at the modern day church and challenges the notion that the best days of the church are behind us. I have heard that rumor before and I think the best days of the church are indeed ahead of us. The American church in recent years has gotten so much wrong that the church is known more for what they stand against than what they stand for.

Rumors of God addresses the ways that Christians can live the life that Jesus intended for them. Some of these areas are giving, grace, community, and justice. One of my favorite parts of the books deals with the difference between God's grace and God's mercy. In their illustration they show that a cop pulling you over and giving you a warning is mercy. But if the cop said I'll take your place and go to jail for you, that's grace. As someone who has mixed up the two before, I thought it was a great illustration.

I really liked the book. Whitehead and Tyson give real life examples of how people are living out the gospel. The book is inspiring and it will change how you look at things.
