Holy Crap! I Went to the Mall Today and I Didn't Want to Kill Anyone!

I hate the mall at Christmas! I avoid the place at all costs and I refuse to be one of those people who are frantically shopping for last minute gifts the week before Christmas. So I plan very carefully and I try to shop outside of the mall for most of my gifts.

There was just one small problem with my plan this year. I'm about to run out of foundation and powder and I had to go to the mall this week to buy more. And Gymboree sent me reward money that expires on 12/24. I chose today since we were all up and dressed and out the door at 9am to grocery shop so I decided we might as well all go to the mall too. Yep that's right I braved the mall with three kids under 4, four days before Christmas. It sounds like a recipe for disaster doesn't it?

Yet today, people did not piss me off like they usually do. And Isabella was a perfect angel in the mall, through 3 stores!

You see normally when I have my twins in a double stroller and a three year old in tow, it signals the people around me to let doors slam in front of me and walk on my ankles just so I know that I'm slowing them down. I guess it's too much effort to be patient or walk around me. But today people held the door open for me every single time! And one lady actually let me go in front of her since Mark was having a melt down in his stroller. (He hates that thing!) I can't tell you how grateful I was when the woman let me go first. I said thank you about 100 times.

And even though Mark screamed to make me crazy every time the stroller stopped, it was still a win in my opinion since Isabella didn't touch anything in the store and she stayed right by my side the whole time. We were there for a hour and if you've ever shopped with a three year old you know how huge that is. So maybe the mall isn't so bad all the time during Christmas.

And if you still have some Christmas shopping to do, please be kind to your fellow shoppers. You just might make someone's day by holding the door open for them.

  1. Congrats! I don't take mine to the mall! Not enough patience in the world!

  2. Hitting the malls during the Christmas season can be stressful for some people. For me, I think of it as all part of the holiday spirit. I find it heartwarming to see people indulging in the spirit of generosity during this time of year. Glad to hear that your day at the mall was a lot better than you expected.
