Fun In the Mud

Yesterday I sent my kiddos outside to play with sidewalk chalk. I thought it would keep them occupied and happy for a while. I love that they like to play outside especially since Brett is working swing shift and I'm a single married mom again since it gives me a mini break. Well about 5 seconds after I sent them outside, the sprinklers went off.

Now some moms might have made their kiddos come inside so they didn't get dirty.

I am not one of those moms.

I am a firm believer that kids should get dirty. It's how you know they are having fun and learning. And since Daddy is missing out on all the fun, I took a few pictures and video so he could see how much fun they were having. And of course, I thought I would share some with you.

The beginning of their play.
(Isn't my yard super exciting?)

The aftermath!

Mark was my muddy winner!

Can you imagine how dirty they would get if they had a large amount of mud to play in? I'm pretty sure they would have rolled in the mud if it wasn't so cold out. They went straight into the tub and splashed around until dinner. That was a huge plus having clean kids before dinner so I didn't have to do bath duty when I was dead tired after dinner.

  1. I'm totally with you on this. I've always been a firm believer that a dirty child is a sign that a lot of fun was had. And it's often a sign that they will sleep really well that evening. Lol! Life should be fun.

  2. Great post! This will probably be one of their favorite childhood memories. :)
