Hilary Rosen Confessions

Photobucket

I confess....
I never talk about politics on my blog. Twingle Mommy just isn't that kind of blog. And I like it that way.

I confess....
Until today................
When I heard Hilary Rosen say the following about Ann Romney

What you have is Mitt Romney running around the country saying, “Well, my wife tells me what women really care about are economic issues.” And, “When I listen to my wife, that’s what I’m hearing.” Guess what? His wife has never actually worked a day in her life. She’s never really dealt with the economic issues that a majority of the women in this country are facing—in terms of how do we feed our kids, how do we send them to school, and how do—why we worry about their future.

my mouth cannot stay shut.

I confess....
This bothers me on so many levels

1. As if a SAHM doesn't work!!! I'll remember that next time I meet a daycare or preschool teacher so I can tell them that they don't work. I'm sure it will be appreciated.

2. As if a SAHM doesn't worry about her kids future or how they are going to go to school. That's right we are just carefree moms who don't give a crap about our kids. No worries over here, I don't work.

3. As if a SAHM doesn't understand the pressure of how to feed her kids. Duh of course not, because we are all super rich so living on 1 income isn't hard at all. We SAHM moms never budget.

4. As if SAHM don't understand economics and politics. I mean how could we? We are just stupid women who don't have a job.

5. As if a woman who has money cannot listen to the women that she meets and understand their fears about the economy. There are no poor Presidents or Presidential candidates EVER in history folks left or right. Hilary Clinton is a rich woman-does she not understand women either? Last time I checked she did.

I confess....
I heard the as if in Alicia Silverstone’s voice circa Clueless......did you?

I confess....
The war on women is not being waged by men or Congress, it's by women.

I confess....
These attacks on women by women make my blood boil!!

I confess....
I thought the whole point of the feminist movement was to have a choice! I am a SAHM by CHOICE! I have an education (I went to grad school thank you very much!) and I had a career before I had kids. I WANT to be home with my kids. And I'm not rich; I make sacrifices to stay at home.

I confess....
Which is why the following statement by Rosen made me even angrier?

Now let's be clear on one thing. I have no judgments about women who work outside the home vs. women who work in the home raising a family. (Except for the fact that we don't work, please don't forget that!) I admire women who can stay home and raise their kids full-time. (Yet you say we don't work, where is that admiration again?) I even envy them sometimes. (Well duh, we don't work, what's not to envy?) It is a wonderful luxury to have the choice. But let's stipulate that it is NOT a choice that most women have in America today.

I must have missed the moment in America where only RICH moms stay at home. Hold on, I'm going to go looking for my millions. Damn, my evil husband must have hid them since they are missing from my bank account.

I confess....
And even if I was rich, I would still have the same types of worries regarding my kids. We all worry about our kids rich or poor. And I have empathy towards people with cancer even though I don't have cancer. Kinda like women who are rich can empathize/understand the financial difficulties that most women face.

I confess....
How dare you say that a woman who doesn't work outside the home doesn't work? Working moms pay someone to do my job. Do they also not work? Oh I forgot a salary means you work no salary means you're worthless.

I confess....
When The View covered this story today, I was appalled that Joy had the nerve to say that Rosen had a point. No one else on the panel was dumb enough to agree with her.

I confess....
I cannot believe that in 2012 most of our society only values a woman (or man for that matter, it's just as appalling) by their income or job!

I confess....
So stop telling your kids not to judge a book by its cover and it's who you are on the inside that counts since that is clearly crap. According to Rosen, you only have value based on your job/income. And if you don't work, you're not allowed to have an opinion. And if you're rich you cannot possibly understand. (Does this mean Hilary will lose her job?)

I confess....
This is not a conservative vs. liberal issue. It is an attack on SAHMs. I know plenty of liberal SAHMs and conservative SAHMs who are as ticked off as I am.

I confess....
I am very happy that the White House is smart enough disagree with Rosen.

I confess....
I wonder how many of you will write me off as a crazy conservative or a crazy liberal? Trust me there will be people in both camps. It will amuse me since I haven't said either way.

I confess....
Man that was a rant, I'm more ticked off than I thought!

I thought I leave you with something cute. My girls slept in the same bed for the first time last Friday. How cute are they?
