Job Confessions

Photobucket

I confess....
Last weekend we went into selling mode. I'm amazed at how well we were provided for last weekend at our garage sale. We made $350 selling things that we no longer need making money that we desperately needed after Brett lost his job last Friday. God is good!

I confess....
We had our quad on and off Craigslist for the last 2 years without any interest! We listed it on Saturday night and it sold on Sunday at 1pm! How amazing is that?

I confess....
Brett went into instant job applying mode. He also called every contact he had between Friday morning and Wednesday afternoon. Unless the job was somewhere very expensive to live or there is snow on the ground for 6 months he applied for it.

I confess....
He was told about a job for a service tech with a warning that the boss wanted to hire someone he knew. Brett applied anyway since the answer is no until you ask.

I confess....
He called the guy directly and then emailed him his resume. One hour later he was called and had an interview the next day.

I confess....
I never thought I would be thrilled about my husband taking a job for less than half the money he was making before. But I was so excited on Wednesday night at the thought of him having a job again. Less money is more than no money right?

I confess....
I was jumping out of my skin with nervousness during his almost 2 hour interview. I kept telling myself that things had to be going well since he was still there.

I confess....
He got the job!!!!!! I'm so excited and a huge weight was lifted from my shoulders when I heard the news.

I confess....
It is not a permenat solution but it will keep the wolves from knocking on the door.

I confess....
I'm so proud of Brett. So many men would have said "oh there is no point in applying for this job. He wants someone he knows and it doesn't pay enough, plus I'm over qualified."

By not allowing his pride to enter the picture he did what he needed to do, get any job to support his family. And it's not the first time that he's done this, I've wrote about it before in What is a Man. I'm a very lucky woman.

I confess....
We feel incredably blessed and we are very grateful for this job.

I confess....
The kids got some Easter money and we used it to buy them some new sunglasses. I can't get over how stinkin' cute they are in them.

I confess....
I'm not ready for summer! It's going to be 97 on Sunday :(
And since my chuch is doing a huge community service event all weekend, I will be out in the heat for a big portion of the weekend. It's going to be fun even though it's hot.

What are you confessing this week?

  3. Y'all need to look in Austin! There are lots of jobs and growth down here and the cost of living is pretty reasonable and comparable to Las Vegas.
