I confess....
I'm the world's worst potty trainer. Ever! I'm sure I'll get my trophy any day now!
I confess....
I'm pretty sure it's one of the worst aspects of parenting a toddler. And I tried all the potty training methods, none of them worked for me with Isabella.
I don't do anything until I'm ready.
In fact, I was in a potty training war with Isabella for 14 months before she finally decided that the potty was not a scary place. And yes for almost 18 months I had three kids in diapers. Can you say expensive?
I confess....
Since January I've tried to get Molly to sit on the potty. It was almost always met with a NOOOOO! And then she would run from me.
I confess....
In May, I finally got her to sit on it and try to go.
I confess....
Earlier this month she went a tiny bit and then FREAKED out and got down and peed all over the floor. It was then that I decided that she was going to Kindergarten in diapers and I decided to quit trying.
Two weeks later............
I confess....
Yesterday at naptime I found her putting on panties. She informed me that she was a big girl and that she wasn't going wear diapers anymore. She was going to wear panties for now on. She could not be swayed.
I confess....
I decided to let her go for it. After all, hasn't everyone heard of the kid who just one day decided to use the potty? No training required? I was doubtful but I thought it was worth a try seeing how determined she was. Plus I figured the worst thing that could happen was me changing sheets later.
How could my Mommy doubt me?
I confess....
She stayed dry during her nap and used the potty after her nap about 6 times. She had one accident during the day and stayed dry all night! (And no diaper since she was adamant that she was a big girl and big girls wear panties.) And she's stayed dry all morning until her nap today.
I confess....
WTF?
But I'll take it. I cannot believe that a kid who REFUSED to even sit on the potty has basically trained herself. I know there will be more accidents but there will not be anymore diapers. Hooray!
I confess....
Now I just need to get Mark trained and no more diapers for me!! What a happy day that will be for me and my Costco budget.
I'm coming for your diaper kid!

So, it was all about the undies and her being ready. Nice!
ReplyDeleteI am so stinkin' nervous about training mine (probably starting next week. Maybe.). Pun intended. Did you guys use a training potty, or just go for the big potty? If I can get by without purchasing more plastic kid paraphernalia, that would be awesome.
Of course, they might fall in! haha! Sigh...
I used the big potty since the thought of cleaning that little kiddie potty sounds nasty. No thanks. We did buy a potty insert seat so they fit on the potty better. That was two years ago and it was $10, well worth the investment.
DeleteGood luck on your potty training! I know it's tough and you'll want to cry by the end of the day if you're kids are like mine.
