Colorado Shooting Confessions

Photobucket

I confess....
I turned on the TV this morning and I saw the news coverage about the shooting in Colorado.

I confess....
It broke my heart.

I confess....
It's a reminder to me that terrible things can happen in the blink of an eye.

I confess....
We live in a relatively safe country where tragic shootings/deaths like this are rare. This is a wonderful thing, many people around the world are not as lucky as us.

I confess....
I hugged my kids a little tighter before nap time. Isabella refused to give me a kiss, I tried not to be offended.

I confess....
I'm going to be annoyed when people start screaming for more gun control next week. (If they wait that long)

I confess....
Every time I hear people scream for more gun control I think of the bumper sticker I saw a few years ago. It said "guns don't kill people, husbands who come home early do."

Childish? Yes.
Still cracks me up? Yup!

I confess....
But the bumper sticker has a point, guns don't actually kill people. People kill people. You can choose to disagree, just do it politely. And to warn you, I'll point out that murder was in existence before the invention of the gun.

I confess....
I just hope that the media can be kind to the victims and their families and give them some privacy. I'm not holding my breath, but I can hope.

I confess....
I hope you'll include the victims and their families in your prayers.

  1. I always hold my kids closer when I hear things like this. I am so sad for the people and their families. I just don't understand what drives someone to do things like that.

  2. The whole situation broke my heart too. I don't have a strong stand either way on guns so I won't give my two cents there. My prayers and thoughts are with those who were affected by this tragedy.
