Disneyland Confessions

I confess....
I've been MIA this week because we took the kids to Disneyland. Our plan was to drive down on Saturday morning and spend the weekend with Brett's parents and our friends and go to Disneyland on Monday and back home on Tuesday.

Did you notice the word plan??????

I confess....
On Monday morning I woke up with the stomach flu. Of all the days in the year and of all the illnesses! I was miserable, there was no way we were going to Disneyland.

I confess....
Isabella was heart broken when she heard the news. This was the kids first time going to Disneyland and we did a great job getting them excited about it.

I confess....
I sobbed listening to the kids beg to go to Disneyland. I felt like the worst mom in the world. It's the first time I truly felt like I disappointed my kids. I had Brett take the kids to Downtown Disney so they could experience a tiny portion of Disney.

I confess....
I willed my body to get better and thankfully it cooperated. Brett was able to get Wednesday off so we made it to Disneyland on Tuesday!! Yea!!!

I confess....
We had the BEST time! The crowds were measured as a 1 out of 10 and we walked onto most of the rides. We waited for about 20 minutes on two rides and those were our longest waits. I'm so happy we ended up going on Tuesday since the crowds were crazy on Monday.

I confess....
The kids did AMAZING! We were there from open to close (8am-6pm) and unlike the other kids in strollers, ours didn't nap at all. We had a few moments with Molly that were a little rough, but it wasn't anywhere near our normal meltdown/tantrum levels we experience at home. I cannot believe how great they behaved all day without naps, so much stimulation, and a few miles of walking.

I confess....
I was surprised that Molly was terrified of the characters. She wouldn't get near them. Isabella on the other hand LOVED them and showed every single character we met her running shoes. I just love that kid!

Mark was not a fan either, this was as close as he would get.

I confess....
I wanted to get a good family photo while we were there. Yep that didn't happen. I didn't get that many good photos period since the kids couldn't be bothered to look and smile at the camera. One of my kids are doing something weird in almost every single picture.

Wouldn't this be a perfect picture if the kids were smiling?

I confess....
This is my favorite picture of the day. I took it after we got off our last ride of the day at 5:50. It just makes my heart happy.

I know, my sense of humor is a little twisted.

I confess....
The kids loved the rides and we went on almost every single ride. The girls liked the "spooky rides" but Isabella declared that Small World was her favorite. Molly said that Dumbo and Pirates of the Caribbean were her favorite, and Mark has yet to weigh in on his favorite. Oh and my girls loved the roller coaster in Toon Town! They rode it alone and screamed with delight!

Most of my pictures of Isabella are like this-face pointed at the camera, eyes looking away.

I confess....
I'm so proud of Mark for how well he did. The kids were only in their strollers when we were walking between lands. He climbed hundreds of steps and walked a few miles and he was still going at the end of the day. It's amazing how far that kid has come. This time last year he couldn't keep on on a walk with us for more than 20 minutes.

I confess....
I'm so unimpressed that Molly decided to scratch her face on Monday with a pumpkin. Now she has a lovely scab on her face for all the pictures. Sigh.

I confess....
I now love the parade at Disneyland. The kids couldn't care less and we were able to ride 4 rides in under an hour since everyone else was camped out at the parade route.

I confess....
We got asked a few times if the kids were triplets. No, one kid is a head taller than everyone else. But my favorite comment of the day came while we were eating. We brought all our own food to avoid spending $60 on lunch, plus what we would spend on snacks. A woman pointed to us and said "I can't believe they brought their lunch to Disneyland!" Well lady, I cannot believe you're going to drop $20 on a burger, fries, and coke. I'm looking pretty smart with my pb&j sandwiches!

I confess....
After ten hours at Disneyland, you would think my kids would have fallen asleep in the car. NOPE! They made it home, ate dinner, took a bath, and then ran around the house like wild animals. They did fall asleep almost instantly when we put them to bed at 7:30.

I confess....
The cherry on our ice cream sundae was that Mark and Molly got in for free since they're still two. I think my kids are at the perfect ages to go to Disneyland for the first time. No meltdowns, they we tall enough for almost every ride, brave enough for the "spooky rides", and old enough to push them without a nap.

So what are you confessing this week?
