Don't believe a word my mom says, we are not messy kids!
So why do I need Borax too if Purex does such a great job? Easy, I live in Las Vegas and we have very hard water here. It's so bad that everyone who comes to visit me comments on how hard our water is and how much it dries our their skin. Did you know that when you add detergent to hard water some of the detergent will attach it's self to the magnesium and calcium and never even touch your clothes? Talk about a waste of detergent!
Borax is not only 100% natural (it's what your Grandmother used in her homemade detergent) it also naturally softens the water. When I use Borax in my wash, all the detergent that I put in the wash is actually getting used! And no worry, you only need to add 1/2 a cup to every load so a box will last you a long time. It is also great at removing odors from your clothes. That is very important to me since my son has many potty accidents and his clothes come home from school in a plastic bag and the smell is not all that fabulous.
But Borax has more uses than as a laundry booster. If you're a Pinterest fanatic like me you've probably seen the many crafts and experiments that you can do with Borax. And while there are many options on the site, here are a few of my favorites.
- Borax Slime - My kids loved this!
- Borax Bouncy Ball
- Borax Crystal Snowflakes
- Borax Heart Ornaments - Perfect for Valentine's Day
And while you can and should buy your own box of 20 Mule Team Borax, wouldn't you like to win a box too? I have a coupon to try out for 3 winners so you can try it out. Enter on the Rafflecopter below.

Disclaimer-Borax provided a free sample of their product so I could review them. However all opinions expressed are my own.
I will use it for both. I will mix some into my homemade laundry soap and use some for the activities with my kids.
