Manteresting, Will Your Man Join?

For those of you who have not heard of Manteresting, it's like Pinterest but for men only. Because apparently Pinterest is geared towards women, the men need their own place to have a virtual pin board. I don't get it, but who am I to judge? When I heard about it, I just had to check it out. After all, I'm a border line Pinterest addict so I had to check out Manteresting! Also, I just had to know what all the fuss was about from the moms screaming foul. And yes, I'm very familiar with the express curiosity killed the cat.

So the first thing that I noticed was that I saw 7 of the same "nails" (the Manteresting lingo for pin) in a quick scroll that I see all the time on Pinterest. So I guess that men and women do pin the same things at least some of the time. And then of course the next thing I noticed was all the pictures of sexy women. Big shocker there huh?

It looks the same to me, the content is less weddings and recipes and more hot chicks and humor but it's the same concept. But I have no idea what the fuss is all about. Does it push boundaries? Maybe, if your boundaries are super narrow. Personally I don't see the difference between a sexy woman on a car and a sexy woman in a fitness poster to promote an exercise routine. (Which you'll find all day long on Pinterest BTW)

So bottom line, I don't get what the fuss is all about. The real question is will men join? I know bloggers and marketers will join but will your average Joe join? I asked my husband and he said no and then wondered who I thought I was talking to. But this is the man without a Facebook or Twitter account so I don't think he is the greatest person to poll.

For my Hubby!
So you tell me, will your man join?

  1. Mine would probably only get on it if there were recipes and home project stuff (more so than what I have already pinned for him on Pinterest).

    1. There are recipes and home improvement stuff there. But from what I saw, its the exact came stuff that's already on Pinterest.

  2. I know mine wouldn't. He's already got a hot chick next to him. Haha. Kidding. Plus he's a recipe freak and would proably end up on Pinterest if it interested him.

    1. Love it! I wish my husband was even a tiny bit interested in recipes, but when it comes to cooking his interest is in take out.

  3. Haha this is awesome. Just off the homepage alone I even LOL'd a little bit. I get the concept, but I wonder if my man would join. Hmm...time for a little experiment tonight! My prediction, he'll skim through the sign without pinning a single thing. My guy doesn't like to cling or remember random things like I love to save on Pinterest (I think I'd die if I found out my Pinterest boards were wiped clean).

  4. Cofounder of Manteresting here, thanks for the thoughtful writeup and the comments :) I thought I'd share a little bit of detail about Manteresting with ya in return.

To date we have 40 thousand + members and average 25,000 new nails per month.

There is plenty of overlap with Pinterest, that's true, but with a smaller pond of people and a larger % of that pond filled with things that are more interesting to guys (not even that, just less feminine in general), it's much easier to find stuff that we are interested in.

Manteresting wasn't started to compete with Pinterest, it was created to fill a need in the market and the response in general has been a good one.

Anyway, keep pinning and we'll keep nailing :) to each their own and that isn't a bad thing!

PS tell your husbands, what's up for me.
