Confessions on Snow Days

I confess....
There was no snowfall this week. Can I get an Amen?

I confess....
It has never been more clear to me that I cannot live somewhere cold. I don't know how parents handle the snow with kids. They play outside for less time than it takes to dress and undress them. And don't even get me started about how much laundry I did since my kids were constantly wet last week.

I confess....
It was fun for the first two days, it was the second two that I have a beef with. Especially since school was canceled for 4 days and it only snowed for 1 day. My kids lost all their vacation days between now and Spring Break.

I confess....
There is a silver lining though, my husband is off on President's Day so we get 2 hours during the day without any kids!!!! I'm pretty excited about that!

I confess....
I have bar stools in my kitchen that my kids love to use to get into things. Like the freezer or the top cabinet where I keep the flashlights.

I confess....
Last week I opened the ice cream and found this

I confess....
This is not the first time my kids have dipped their hands into the ice cream behind my back. But it is the first time no one fessed up to the crime.

I confess....
I debated for a few minutes over what to do. In the end I served the kids ice cream and decided that it was far more likely that my kids were lying to me than the ice cream coming that way.

I confess....
I think this little face says I made the right decision!

I confess....
My husband and I are getting a date night tonight thanks to Olive Garden. We signed up for their free babysitting promotion so it's going to be an affordable night too. I hoe my kids have fun, I know we will!

What are you confessing this week?

  1. Ha! That ice cream pic made me laugh, but only because I've seen similar in my own house.

    1. It makes me feel so much better knowing that other moms have kids that sneak into the ice cream. Once I heard my kids come inside from the back yard. I went to check on them a few minutes later and they had smuggled the ice cream outside and were eating it with their hands in the corner of the yard. Stinkers!

    1. I always wanted snow days when I was a kid living in Houston where we never got any. Now that I'm a parent I know what a pain they are after two days. Lucky for me it looks like we will have a snow day tomorrow and possibly two more after that. This winter is just relentless this year.

  6. Love your post! I know I'm about over the snow days and we are going to be out tomorrow and probably the rest of the week - my house will go to heck, the laundry - oh the laundry from playing outside in the snow, I will turn my back and they will climb to get in to things in the kitchen - lovely! At least you all got a date night :) We didn't have that program here or I would have gone to the Olive Garden in a heartbeat! :)

  8. I feel your pain about moving from a warm climate to a cold one. I moved from California to Minnesota and we are having one of the coldest winters in 50 years apparently. It's very difficult to adjust, but I keep reminding myself that spring IS coming. #SITSBlogging

  9. I confess this made me laugh. I used to love snow days and I confess, that even though the kids are grown, I still love it when we get a big dumper! Which for some reason has only happened in the mountains and not here in the city. But there's still time!

  10. We don't typically get snow here, but we've had so much rain! It makes me realize that I miss the sun a whole lot more than I thought. I was so thankful to have a deep blue sky today with plenty of sun.

Coming over from SITS Girls--meant to comment yesterday!

  11. I remember living in the snow. That was a long time ago. Now I live on the Central Coast in California and there is no snow at all. Stay warm! :) #SITSBlogging
