New Family Motto

I am a firm believer that my kids will listen to my music. I've brainwashed these kids into thinking that country music and Christian music is the only kind of music that exists. While I'm a fan of old school rap, the new stuff is annoying. And don't even get me started on pop music, it's awful.

Typically I keep the station on Christian radio while the kids are in the car since I've been burned by inappropriate lyrics in the past. But sometimes I forget that they're in the car or I'm not paying attention. Which explains why my son once got off the bus and greeted me by saying "yo baby waz up?"

That proud parenting moment brought to you by Beastie Boys.

Today was a teacher workday and I took the kids to lunch. Now I happen to love Kenny Chesney's song American Kids. It puts me in a good mood and I always crank it up when it comes on the radio. It happened to be on the radio as we were getting out of the car.

So there we were waiting on our waitress looking like a perfectly normal family. When the waitress asked how we were doing Isabella didn't miss a beat.

"A little messed up but we're all alright, hey!"

It's obvious to me that our waitress is not a country music fan by the look she gave me. Personally, I think we've found our new family motto.
